Ice Cream straight to your door.

Meet Flash Frozen, a local Frozen Treat delivery service with a difference. With the catch-phrase; “we drive miles to bring you smiles” they are definitely bringing smiles to the faces of many. To be clear, this is a stocking distributor of, among other things, high quality locally made ice cream, sorbets, and alcohol-infused lollies.

“The name Flash Frozen was picked because it gives the customer the immediate understanding that the products we deliver would be handled in such a manner to ensure that it tastes as though it came directly from the manufacturer to their home.” They offer a convenient solution to their customers as well as the manufacturers that they represent!

Basically, this husband and wife team, while juggling theirmain careers plus two children (and a third on the way)managed to grow this new business after working hours.Stating that it was just a case of “Necessity breedinginvention”, the business was born out of a craving for ice cream during the first Covid-19 lockdown. Not being able to have it delivered safely to their door created that lightbulb moment for the duo.

Their first ‘customer’ came through a lifelong friend who had been involved in manufacturing high-quality local ice cream, after hearing about the impact on his retail outlet sales due toCovid-19 they offered to stock and sell ice cream from their home.

This then led to first testing to see how people in theirneighbourhood would respond and realised quite quickly that this service was needed. “We provided a safe alternative during the pandemic and based on the response we got things just took off from there.”

Their business is built around cold chain management and the logistics of getting products to customers in the quickest and safest manner so that product integrity is not compromised.“We believe in Superior Customer Service and investing in the brands that we sell!” And it definitely shows.

While they do not participate in any markets they see it as being beneficial for the brands that they represent to have a presence there. As well as the importance of Social Media: “The cost of utilising traditional media sometimes makes it prohibitive for small business to use effectively however social media provides a much more cost-effective vehicle to get your brand out there!”

When asked about their thoughts on the local brand community here in Trinidad and Tobago, they had this to say; “Trinidad has many world-class brands that have demonstrated their ability to penetrate regional and international markets e.g. Angostura, Carib, Chubby, Swiss to name a few. In relation to the local frozen treat brands, we have been amazed to see the wide variety of products that are manufactured locally (with more emerging weekly due to Covid). Each brand is unique with its creative combination of flavours.

Despite the fact that some brands have been in existence for many years we have identified that some local manufacturers have challenges with respect to advertising, e-commerce readiness, packaging, labelling, data analytics. i.e. when compared to imported brands. Over time we hope to work with them to overcome these hurdles in any way that we can. Our local products are world-class but are at a disadvantage due to the lack of local support for them. We look forward to adding more local brands to our online menu in the future.”

And we look forward to seeing much more from this brand.
