Meet JoGitts Hair. A brand here in Trinidad and Tobago that is the official distributor of many hair products. Owner Joanna Gittens is proud to have built a brand like hers that helps so many people looking for specific hair products and treatments.

One such product is the Brazilian Keratin which is considered one of the best in the world. It’s made using oils, fruits, pigmentation from the Amazon thereby making products of the highest quality. “This line is formaldehyde free, paraben-free, contains natural and organic ingredients such as Coffee Extracts and pure Protein and therefore creates a perfect base for long-lasting hair treatment.” says Joanna.

JoGitts Hair Essentials represents The Beox brand which has been around for 17 years and is carried in 79 countries. In 2018 Beox began to get international recognition as one of the 5 best Brazilian brands of professional hair products and the KeraCoffee Keratin won the first prize at a fair in Mumbai. In 2019 HABIPEC elected Beox Professional Products as one of the two best brands of hair products in Brazil.

Joanna says she stumbled upon this business idea while looking for solutions for her own hair. “After many years of using similar products and not getting consistent results, this product was used on my hair and I loved it! I knew it would be a winner. Told my best friend who lives in Florida about KeraCoffee Keratin, she went in search of it for her hairdresser to try, found the supplier who informed her that Trinidad didn’t have a distributor and the rest is history” says Joanna. 

This is now full-time for Joanna as she stays the course on her journey to help women with their hair struggles. 

Since starting the business, there have been many milestones for Joanna, including how many products she now represents here in Trinidad and Tobago. “I started off with the KeraCoffee Keratin and I’ve added a few more products to the line. Clients who were hesitant about trying a new product are now ordering everything from the line and they’re very satisfied.” That’s great news, Joanna!

Joanna has one simple piece of advice when it comes to being an entrepreneur. “Believe in yourself.” She also has advice for those out there who may want to begin their journey as an entrepreneur. “It’s hard work and you may not see the benefits immediately but trust your instincts and seize opportunities that may come your way.”

Being brand aware is also very important, and Joanna sees a brand as the end result when you create or supply a product that is set apart from others. She also says, “A business is the company that produces or sells your products. A brand is the line of distinguished products you sell in my case, it’s Beox Professional Products.”

As a member of the local brand community here in Trinidad and Tobago, Joanna believes “we have a pool of talented individuals and their products can compete with those on the international stage.”

Joanna is obviously an active member of that community with her brand, JoGitts Hair Essentials which she plans to take to the local markets soon.
