So Natanical

Meet Natanical Beauty & Skincare Spa. It Is a certified day spa where you can get several different services under one roof. Facials, massages, waxing, body scrubs, make up, manicures and pedicures, all while enjoying complimentary drinks in a comfortable and relaxing environment.

Owner Shernelle starts us off by telling us how she came up with the name for her brand.  “The story behind my name is that it represents nature and yes I know it’s a little bit of a tongue twister. It all hinges on the fact that my spa’s ambience makes you feel like you are in the Botanical Gardens. Any service that you are getting done here, you will feel relaxed and calm.”

Natanical Beauty & Skincare Spa is a full time business here in Trinidad, open Sunday to Sunday.

So what inspired Shernelle to start the brand? “Over 10 years ago, I was doing freelance make up and also worked in a spa as a front desk clerk. During my time there, my manager encouraged me to get into waxing as well as manicures and pedicures. I can say from then to now, I definitely have a passion for everything  esthetician, cosmetic and therapist.  It has always been a dream of mine to open my very own spa but first I needed to get verified and that’s exactly what I did.  I graduated with six certificates and that was how Natanical was born.”

Shernelle says getting support from the system, family, in-laws, friends, clients and even people she doesn’t know, keeps her going.

“80% of the time I get emails with messages that I am a role model.  That alone motivates me to keep pushing.”

And she’s learned many lessons along the way too. “Start small. It’s ok to start small because at the end of the day, once you start, that’s all that matters. Move in faith and not by fear. Never let them know your next move.”

She also has advice for those looking to choose the path of entrepreneurship. “Don’t give up, even if there’s a setback and things are not going your way, never, ever give up. Take risks even if they don’t go as planned. It is a lesson learned and an opportunity to try new and different ways. Stay positive, stay focused, pray, never say you can’t and believe in yourself.” Great advice, Shernelle!

When it comes to the whole eco-system that is a brand, Shernelle’s insight is simple and to the point. “Your brand starts with you and how you identify yourself to the world.”

Shernelle continues “The difference between a brand and a business is a business is more the management and how it runs whereas a brand is more about my clients and friendships we have. We are all family. That’s why they always feel welcome and comfortable while coming to the spa.”

When it comes to the local brand scene Shernelle is happy to see brands out there representing for the culture.

“It’s amazing to see so many talented individuals. I now see a lot of them posting on social media. You need to, it’s a must. It’s a big part of getting the word out there and letting people know who you are and what you can do.”

Great insight Shernelle and great job building your brand!
