For the Fempreneurs

Meet Roxanne. Roxanne helps purposeful fempreneurs start their business and systemize their backend operations through systems and automation. She assists in legally setting up their business and helping them achieve operational excellence by implementing systems, so their business can run like a well-oiled machine that will facilitate business growth.

When it comes to the the story behind the name of your brand, Roxanne explains “Oh, the name of my brand is my given name. My brand is a part of my legacy and my purpose. That’s why I decided to use my name for the brand.”

Roxanne is proudly a full-time entrepreneur. When asked what inspired her to start the business, Roxanne’s story is unique. “I didn’t choose entrepreneurship: entrepreneurship chose me. I was thrust into Entrepreneurship as a means to increase my income. I left my full-time job to pursue my Master in Management Studies mainly because the program that married my goals required me to be a full-time student. When I completed my Master’s in Management Studies it was extremely challenging to get a suitable job that fits well with my experience and education. I became very demotivated with job applications at a particular time. It was a test of my faith, my dream of working in the corporate industry dwindled before my eyes. After many failed attempts at finding a job in corporate, I applied to tutor at UWI Open Campus and I was successful. However, the income was not enough to fund my goals. Therefore, I engaged in intense research for a business model I could start with a low start-up cost that best suits my experience and education. Oh, how I had to renew my mind about entrepreneurship and accept the call of God in my life in this new light.”

Roxanne started as a freelance virtual assistant in 2019, and, as she gained more experience in business, she pursued a course in Marketing automation because she saw the gap in technology in many female businesses. When the marketing automation course was completed: she restructured her business model to include more premium services such as CRM, Email Marketing campaigns, appointment schedules, and coaching services. “Now it’s a joy for me to help other women in Entrepreneurship manifest their vision in a high-quality style.”

When asked about some of the major milestones she’s achieved to date, Roxanne has a list.

“We have international clients from the USA. Created million-dollar winning business proposals for clients. Created ebooks and journals for sale on Amazon. Helping female entrepreneurs start their businesses and implement strategies and systems for growth.” That’s impressive isn’t it?

The one lesson Roxanne admits she  learned as an entrepreneur so far is “Accept failure and learn from it”.

Roxanne also has advice for those out there who may want to begin their journey as an entrepreneur.

“Entrepreneurship takes a lot of faith, consistency, and discipline. You have to be fully vested in your business and take it seriously. For instance, I have the mindset that my business must work. I have no other option. When you look at it that way the game changes. You show up every day for your business to ensure it succeeds. Also the importance of a “never give up attitude” cannot be overstated.” Very inspiring words, Roxanne.

When it comes to the world of brands here are Roxanne’s thoughts. “In my perspective, a brand is the personality of the business. It’s the emotional connection between the business and clients and the overall purpose of the business.”

As for what’s the difference between a business and a brand, Roxanne says, “The business is the entity, where the goods or services are produced. On the other hand, the brand is the bigger picture, it’s the greater purpose of the business, whom it serves, and its beliefs.”

And when it comes to the local brand community here in Trinidad and Tobago, Roxanne says “From my standpoint, I think more work is needed to develop the quality of our local brands. To many, a brand is the imagery or symbols of the business, which has some truth, but a brand is more than the imagery. Thus, much attention is directed towards the imagery and not towards a memorable client experience or the bigger picture of the business in terms of the purpose for which the business serves.”
