Get To Know … Shevonne

Meet Shevonne Tricia Metivier, a multifaceted creative. As an actor, she has starred and featured in several locally-produced feature and short films and is a founding member of one of Trinidad and Tobago’s newest theatre production companies ‘Better Than We? Wey!’. But did you know that she is a host too? She has been honing her skills not only in radio broadcasting but also in events and television. She currently holds the reins to the drive-time morning show from 6 am-9 am on T&T’s newest radio station, Lit 102.3fm. Let’s get to know Shevonne!

1. How do you like your Doubles?

Always in pairs with sweet sauce and chadon beni! No pepper.

2. Which spot/place in T&T would you recommend as a must-visit to a first-time visitor to T&T?

I’d say the Queen’s Park Savannah. From the local vendors to the stunning surrounding architecture, and the vast greenery? Come on!

3. What was your first job?

My first job was as an intern at a local credit union as part of a July/August program during Secondary School… mainly in customer service. I hated it.

4. What is your favourite Trini word?

Jamette!

5. What’s one of your pet peeves?

People talking over others and not giving them a chance to share their point of view.

6. How do you like your eggs?

Sunny Side up!

7. Name one of your favourite local brands?

Immortelle Beauty; from the candles to the skin care products, I’m addicted.

8. Tea or coffee?

Coffee, black preferably.

9. Favourite local fruit?

If he don’t love you the way I love a Julie, you need to let that MANGO!

10. Favourite type of mango?

Haha, I think I answered this already

11. What would you say is one of the biggest milestones of your career to date?

Being the lead actress in a local feature film called Grace and Saleem. The experience was beautifully challenging and it reinforced in me that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.

12. What advice do you have for budding entrepreneurs?

Always mind. your. business. Create your goals, stay focused, and don’t get distracted by naysayers along the way.

13. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A Veterinarian, Marine Biologist, or an Actor. At least I became one out of the three haha

14. What’s your favourite local snack?

Gimme a bag of Rough Tops any day!

15. If you could change your career, what would you change it to?

Being a writer. My jobs as an actor and host mainly entail bringing other people’s stories to life, but I would like to explore creating stories of my own someday.
