Lady’s Got You is a small, cottage business dedicated to preparing delicious home-baked and sometimes fried goodies for households or groups at an affordable cost. The business name, “Lady’s Got You,” is a playful nod to my first name, Lady, reflecting my tendency to be a dependable helper in various settings, often on short notice.

Baking is a part-time endeavor for me, catering to special requests and occasions such as birthdays, Easter and Christmas. Balancing a full-time job with extensive baking can be challenging, especially during the holiday season when I prepare packages and schedule pickups, sometimes as late as 11pm on Christmas Eve. Despite the sleepless nights, the joy of sharing my creations with others, along with the potential for profitability, makes it worthwhile.
The idea for Lady’s Got You was inspired by the challenges parents faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many found it difficult to manage their households, balancing work and increased meal preparations due to extended periods at home with their children. Encouraged by my friends, I decided to turn my baking passion into a business.

To support this venture, I obtained my driver’s license and completed courses in makeup, vocal training and continue singing since I was a teen to current(my second love), event planning, and unicakery cake artistry, earning certification in the latter. While not all directly related to baking, these pursuits were personal goals that enriched my skill set.
Support from family and true friends is invaluable, therefore one of my favorite scripture in, Phil 4:4-7 “Rejoice in the Lord always. Be anxious for nothing but in everything with prayer and supplication let your request be made known to God and the peace which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.” Faith helps me go forward. Therefore, aspiring entrepreneurs, I encourage you to embrace your fears and focus on continuous learning and research, with Google as a valuable resource and trust the Lord.
In my view, a brand is a product or service designed to appeal to a specific niche or market. Studying Human Resource Management (HRM) taught me that employees should embody the brand of their organization, sharing its vision and mission. A business, therefore, is a collective of stakeholders with shared goals, while a brand represents the appeal to a particular market.

Trinidad and Tobago, a rich and diverse twin isle, provides the backdrop for my brand. Our local brand community should add value, boost tourism, and encourage investment, showcasing our unity and cultural uniqueness. It is our social responsibility to develop and promote Trinbagonian culture through our offerings and services.

Though I have only participated in one market event, the L Edwin Wedding and Events Christmas market in 2023, I look forward to more opportunities in the future to share my baked goods with a broader audience.
