From Clippers to Calm: How a Husband-and-Wife Duo Built a Self-Care Sanctuary in Tacarigua

At the corner of Dinsley Junction in Tacarigua, two brands have quietly reshaped the self-care experience in Trinidad and Tobago. Eden Spa TT and The Barber Den TT may offer distinctly different services, one dedicated to beauty and wellness, the other to modern men’s grooming but together they represent a single vision rooted in family, faith and purpose. At the heart of it all are Shyam and Natasha Bhola, a husband-and-wife team who have built not just a business but a sanctuary.

The Barber Den TT was where it all began. For Shyam, it was more than just a barber shop, it was a chance to elevate the standard of male grooming in the country, offering a space that combined professionalism with ease. He had spent time in traditional barber shops and felt the atmosphere was often rough around the edges, that didn’t feel positive or peaceful. He wanted something better for himself, for other men and especially for young boys coming up. That desire led him to create his own shop: a faith-friendly, welcoming environment rooted in respect, comfort and calm. His concept of “the den” was intentional, a comfortable, relaxed space where clients could feel both at home and expertly cared for.

But as clients came in, fathers with kids, husbands with wives, there was an opportunity to offer more. It became clear that self-care didn’t have to be a one-sided affair. Natasha stepped in with a vision of her own, one that would bring balance and harmony to the other side of the brand.

That idea blossomed into Eden Spa TT. Inspired by the Garden of Eden, it was built to be a tranquil and restorative space, a modern-day paradise where women, men and even children could be pampered and feel renewed. With a full suite of services including braiding, nail enhancements like Gel X and BIAB, massages, waxing, facials and complete female hair care, Eden Spa TT became more than just an add-on to The Barber Den TT, it became its complement. Clients could now enter the building and find something for everyone, whether they needed a sharp haircut or a deep-tissue massage.

The growth of both brands didn’t come easily. Natasha and Shyam still hold full-time jobs outside of the business, juggling their personal responsibilities while building a space that could thrive without their constant physical presence. It’s their faith that keeps them grounded and their team that helps them deliver on the promise of excellence. Over time, they’ve nurtured not just a loyal client base, but a family-like staff culture where everyone feels valued, supported and proud to be part of something meaningful.

Among the milestones they’ve celebrated, relocating to their new and more spacious location at Dinsley Junction stands out. It’s allowed them to better serve a growing clientele and to continue expanding their services, like offering advanced Korean facials and other treatments that reflect international beauty trends. But more than the treatments or location, it’s the culture they’ve built that they’re proudest of. One where families come in together, where clients feel cared for and where staff are given the tools to grow.

As entrepreneurs, the Bholas have learned that success isn’t always fast or easy. It takes patience, consistency and staying true to your “why.” For them, that “why” is rooted in faith and a desire to bring comfort and care to their community. They’ve faced the inevitable ups and downs of running a business but instead of chasing trends or comparing themselves to others, they’ve chosen to build slowly, with heart.

They believe a brand is not a logo or a name. It’s a feeling, the emotional connection that clients walk away with. It’s about trust, about consistency, about how you make people feel the moment they step through your doors. And while a business is about the transaction, a brand is about the relationship. That perspective has guided every decision they’ve made, from services offered to the way clients are welcomed.

In looking at the broader brand community in Trinidad and Tobago, Natasha and Shyam are optimistic. They see an exciting shift toward authenticity, storytelling, and community, a move away from copycat business models and toward meaningful engagement. The energy among local entrepreneurs is growing and they believe collaboration and mentorship will be key to taking things further.

Right now, their focus remains on the in-house experience. While they don’t currently participate in markets or pop-ups, they remain open to the possibility but only if it aligns with their mission of care, quality and connection. For them, every service, every detail, every interaction must contribute to the peaceful, uplifting experience they’ve built.

At Eden Spa TT and The Barber Den TT, self-care isn’t just about appearance. It’s about feeling renewed, supported and seen whether you’re getting a fresh cut or indulging in a full spa day. Together, these two brands have created something special in Tacarigua, a space where the values of love, trust and purpose shape everything from the way the scissors move to the way the massage oils are poured. It’s more than grooming. It’s more than beauty. It’s a lifestyle rooted in care.
