Every October, something special happens inside Fresh Start Limited. Among the rows of colourful juices lining supermarket shelves, one bottle stands out. A vivid pink blend of Grapefruit and Dragon Fruit that carries a message of hope, compassion and remembrance.
For Marcus Sun Kow, Managing Director of Fresh Start Limited, this juice is more than a seasonal product. It’s a heartfelt tribute. A symbol of love and a promise to give back.

“For us it’s not just a box-checking exercise,” Marcus says. “Breast cancer hits close to home. At the time one of my dear cousins was fighting the disease and I figured it was a good way to show support. While she wasn’t in Trinidad, I saw the importance of driving awareness and raising funds. Plus, I’m surrounded by women. My wife, two daughters, my mum, sisters, loads of aunts. So it was a cause fit for us as a family and as a brand.”
That cousin, whose strength inspired the first edition of the Pink Grapefruit and Dragon Fruit juice five years ago, passed away a year later. Yet her spirit lives on in this annual campaign. Each October, one dollar from every bottle sold is donated to the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society, helping to fund public education and patient-support programmes across the country.
Marcus describes the initiative as a genuine act of purpose not performative philanthropy.
“At Fresh Start Ltd we make an extra effort to execute everything we do with real intention and not just with thoughts and prayers,” he says. “We try to make a difference, no matter how small it may be.”
That belief in doing things with intention is woven into the very fabric of Fresh Start. The company’s history is one of resilience and renewal and its name could not be more fitting.

Founded by the Sun Kow family, Fresh Start was born from crisis. In 1990, after the attempted coup crippled their produce business, the family refused to give up. Drawing on their agricultural background, they began experimenting with frozen fruit products and juices. What started as a small home-based operation grew, through sheer perseverance, into one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most recognized local beverage brands.
Over the years, Fresh Start has evolved while holding firmly to its roots. The company’s expansion into juices, concentrates and natural beverages mirrored its philosophy. To provide quality, wholesome options made from real fruit. Under Marcus’s leadership, the brand modernised its production facility in Diamond Vale, Diego Martin, upgraded its bottling lines and expanded its flavour portfolio, all while keeping the business proudly local.
Today, Fresh Start stands as a home-grown success story. Its products are stocked in supermarkets nationwide and enjoyed by families who appreciate not only the freshness of the juice but also the authenticity behind the label.

Yet for Marcus, Fresh Start’s success is measured by more than sales or distribution. It’s about the impact the company can have on people’s lives. Whether supporting local farmers, sponsoring community events or championing causes like breast-cancer awareness, Fresh Start operates on one clear principle, to make goodness a daily habit.
The Pink Grapefruit and Dragon Fruit campaign is a perfect example of that ethos in action. Its bright colour is eye-catching but what truly matters is the meaning it carries. Each sip represents solidarity with those who have battled cancer, honour for those who have been lost and hope for those still fighting.
In a country where so many families have been touched by the disease, Fresh Start’s pink bottle has become more than a beverage. It’s a quiet act of remembrance and unity. It reminds us that even small gestures, when multiplied by a community, can make a tangible difference.
The campaign also reflects the human side of business that I love to celebrate. Where purpose and profit coexist and where a brand’s story is deeply personal.

As Marcus continues to guide the company forward, Fresh Start’s identity remains grounded in family, community and care. This is a brand that understands that true success is not only about what you make, but what you stand for.
And when you pick up that bottle of pink juice, you’re not just buying something refreshing. You’re joining a story of resilience, empathy and love. One that began in a family’s kitchen and continues in the hearts of everyone who believes in making a difference, one bottle at a time.
Because at its core, Fresh Start isn’t just about juice.
It’s about people.
It’s about purpose.
And it’s about finding the courage to begin again and again, with heart.
