Meet Herb Express. A brand that supplies fresh herbs such as basil, mint, rosemary, oregano, fine thyme and more to Trinidad and Tobago. All herbs are grown in the grow box method and consist mostly of organic soil and organic insecticide. Herb Express is proud to say that all produce is locally grown in their garden and freshly picked every week for delivery. 

Herb Express was started by Maneeshaa Sikumar and she inspired by her father who has always been in the field of agriculture. “My dad has always been in agriculture since in his teenage years. He can basically plant and grow anything and it will be a huge success! Approximately three years ago, he told us he tried growing these plants and they were very successful. My sister and I visited the field and to our amazement they were herbs which restaurants would adore! Thereafter, we started Herb Express and I immediately started contacting restaurants, taking sample bundles and pricelists to them.”

Maneeshaa, who works at Herb Express full time, says the story behind the name is simple. “This happened so quickly! My family and I were sitting juggling names back and forth until we came up with Express since we were going to be offering delivery as quickly as orders are in!” And so Herb Express was born.  

In terms of milestones to date, Herb Express now continuously supplies over twenty restaurants throughout Trinidad with herbs and one major supermarket chain. The brand is hoping to get into more restaurants and a few other grocery stores as it continues on its journey. 

In terms of being an entrepreneur, Maneeshaa has learned a lot. Her advice for other entrepreneurs is simple. “Stay committed and focused for if you lose concentration, you can run into trouble! Don’t try to out do others because you are unique in your own way.” That’s solid advice there! And for new entrepreneurs who are at the start of their journey, Maneeshaa says it’s about motivation and patience.  “There will always be down time but don’t let that get in the way of your motivation. Everything eventually works out for the better, just keep your ground and work toward your life long goal.
