Besties: The New TTChatterbox Community Built Around Friendship, Joy and the Little Things Women Love

Some ideas arrive fully formed. Others begin as a feeling you keep returning to until, eventually, it becomes impossible not to build it. Besties is the latter. For years, so much of TTChatterbox has been about sharing the things I love, the restaurants I return to, the products I discover, the people I trust, the places worth knowing, the little finds that make everyday life feel more interesting. Somewhere along the way, I realised that the real thread connecting all of it was not simply recommendation. It was friendship.

Women are constantly sharing information with each other. We send the name of the woman who does the best brows, the café with the beautiful coffee, the florist who came through at the last minute, the dress shop we found by accident, the therapist somebody swears by, the bakery with the thing you absolutely have to try. We say, “Bestie, do you know somebody who…?” and somebody usually does. That exchange is practical, yes, but it is also intimate. It is one of the ways women look after each other.

Besties was created to build a whole community around that instinct.

At its heart, Besties is a TTChatterbox experience designed to bring women in Trinidad and Tobago together through friendship, discovery, joy and the kinds of thoughtful details that make life feel sweeter. It is not only an event and it is not only a membership. It is a growing world of experiences, recommendations, surprises, perks, gifts, products and connections, all anchored by one simple idea: a community where everyone is your bestie.

Why the guava became the symbol of Besties

The visual identity began somewhere deeply personal. I grew up with guavas in my grandparents’ backyard and the fruit has always carried that feeling of home for me. Guavas are familiar without being boring. They are humble from the outside, then you cut one open and suddenly there is this beautiful rush of pink. It is bright, almost startling, and full of seeds, texture and life.

That felt exactly right for Besties.

Friendship can arrive in much the same way. Someone can enter your life quietly, through a conversation, a recommendation, a coffee, a chance introduction or even a DM, and suddenly they bring colour into your world. They tell you something you needed to hear. They make you laugh. They introduce you to someone else. They remember the little thing. They make life feel a bit warmer.

The Besties colour palette pulls directly from that world. The green speaks to freshness, growth and the outside of the fruit. The pink brings in warmth, joy, femininity and that glorious guava centre. Together, they give the brand a visual language that feels distinctly rooted in Trinidad and Tobago without relying on the obvious visual shorthand we have seen a thousand times before.

That mattered to me. Besties needed to feel local without feeling predictable.

More than a monthly event

The Besties Experience is one Sunday afternoon a month designed around pleasure, connection and ease. The idea is simple: for a few hours, you do not have to organise, plan or pour into everybody else. You arrive and allow yourself to enjoy what has already been thought through for you.

Food, drinks, stationery, flowers, music, gifts, samples, little surprises and discoveries all sit inside that experience. Some months will bring familiar favourites. Others will introduce brands, products, flavours and people you may never have encountered before. The point is not excess for the sake of excess. It is curation.

I want women to walk away feeling that somebody considered them.

That is also why the Besties world extends beyond the room.

The Besties Subscription

The Besties Subscription is the digital layer of the community, giving members access to exclusive editorials, top buys, discounts, freebies, vouchers, videos and early access to Besties experiences and opportunities.

This is where TTChatterbox’s editorial heritage becomes especially important. I have spent years researching, recommending, writing about and working with brands. Besties takes that instinct and gives it a more intimate home. Instead of scrolling endlessly through noise, members can come into a curated space built around things worth knowing.

The goal is not to throw more content at women. We all have enough content.

The goal is to make discovery easier.

Besties VIP

Besties VIP is the more intimate premium layer of the community. It is limited by design and built around deeper access, priority invitations, special perks, elevated experiences and more direct connection with me and the world I am building around TTChatterbox.

The importance of this is not exclusivity for the sake of status. It is intimacy.

Communities change when people begin to recognise each other, when conversations move past introductions and when trust starts to build. Besties VIP gives space for that kind of connection to deepen.

The Besties Directory

One of the ideas I am most excited about is the Besties Directory because it comes directly from something women already do naturally.

“Bestie, do you know somebody who…?”

That sentence alone could probably power half of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Besties Directory will be a curated guide to trusted places, products, services and people worth knowing. The word curated matters. This will not simply be an endless listing of businesses. Besties is about recommendation with a point of view.

If I put something in front of my community, it should have earned its place there.

Over time, I see the directory becoming one of the most useful parts of the Besties ecosystem, helping women discover businesses while also giving good businesses access to a community that values trusted recommendation.

Besties Merch, Birthdays and Goody Bags

Besties also needed to live outside the screen and outside the monthly experience.

That is where the merch comes in: mugs, stationery, tees, totes, stickers and other lifestyle pieces designed to bring a little bit of the Besties world into everyday life.

Then there are the birthdays, because if this is a brand about friendship, it would be absurd not to celebrate them properly. The Bestie Birthday offering will allow women to celebrate their bestie at the monthly Experience with thoughtful touches, dessert, gifts and surprises built into the afternoon.

And then there are the Besties Goody Bags, surprise packages in the mail filled with finds, treats, samples and freebies I think my besties will love.

That one makes me grin every time I think about it.

Because who decided delightful mail had to disappear when we grew up?

Building friendship in real life

The bigger idea behind Besties is not merchandise, subscriptions or even events. It is community.

We live in an age where we can be in contact with hundreds of people every day and still struggle to make new friends. Women are busy. Lives are full. Work, family, relationships, businesses, caregiving and responsibilities consume the spaces where friendship once happened almost accidentally.

Besties is my attempt to create more of those spaces deliberately.

Off the screen. Out of the DMs. Away from the endless “we really need to lime soon” messages that somehow become six months old.

In real life.

I want Besties to become a place where you can arrive with your closest friend or arrive alone and not feel strange about either choice. Where mothers and daughters can come together. Where two women who have followed each other online for years can finally meet. Where the entrepreneur at one table becomes the customer, collaborator or friend of the woman sitting at another.

Where friendship is not treated as a nice extra once everything else has been handled.

Where joy gets a place on the calendar too.

Welcome to Besties

Besties is still at the beginning and that may be the part I love most. I know what the foundation is, but I also want the women who become part of this community to help shape what it becomes.

The brand may begin with one Sunday afternoon, a guava, a directory and a few lovely surprises, but the ambition is much bigger.

I want to build a Trinidad and Tobago community where women recommend each other, support each other, discover together, spend with businesses they believe in, make new friendships and have more opportunities simply to enjoy being alive.

Because sometimes the person who changes your year is not somebody you have known forever.

Sometimes she is the bestie you have not met yet.
