BodyWorksbyBachan is more than just a business—it’s an extension of Nirupa Bachan herself. A full-time radiographer at the SWRHA, Nirupa started BodyWorksbyBachan in October 2019, just months before the world changed with COVID-19. Despite the challenges, she has kept her business running and thriving into 2025 and beyond.
BodyWorksbyBachan is a holistic space dedicated to body wellness, offering a range of therapeutic services, including deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, cupping therapy, hot stone therapy, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, lymphatic drainage, cavitation, and body sculpting. For some clients, a visit to BodyWorksbyBachan is a time for quiet relaxation, while for others, it’s a space to talk and unwind. Regardless of the preference, Nirupa ensures that each session is tailored to what the client needs, creating an atmosphere of comfort and healing.

The journey to BodyWorksbyBachan started long before 2019. While working as a radiographer, Nirupa would often find herself in the physiotherapy department during her free time. Her colleagues constantly told her she had a gift—“Bachan, do something with your hands!”—and after two years of hearing those words, she finally listened. In 2018, she took her Carnival mas money and invested in a diploma at Rinalda Therapeutics in Cunupia. After six months of intense practical and theoretical training, she officially launched BodyWorksbyBachan on 29 September 2019.
Balancing a full-time job, a business, and personal wellness is no easy task. Nirupa schedules most of her appointments on Saturdays and, when possible, during the week after the gym. The work is physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding, but she stays grounded, knowing that self-care is just as important for her as it is for her clients.
Two major milestones stand out in her journey so far. The first was surviving the COVID-19 pandemic while keeping her business alive. The second was moving BodyWorksbyBachan to her home, eliminating the stress of rent and parking and creating an even more personalised, comfortable environment for her clients.
Through the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, Nirupa has learned that not every day, week, or month will be great. There will be times when bookings slow down, but she sees this as an opportunity to rest—because a tired and exhausted therapist cannot fully care for a tired and exhausted client.
Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is simple: Just start. There’s no such thing as being fully ready—sometimes, you have to take the leap and figure things out as you go.

For Nirupa, BodyWorksbyBachan isn’t just a business—it’s an extension of who she is. She believes a brand reflects the personality and values of its owner. The way an entrepreneur treats their brand and their clients defines their success.
Trinidad and Tobago’s small business community is vast but still largely undiscovered. Every day, new businesses emerge, offering unique services and products, yet many remain unknown to the wider public. Nirupa, however, prefers to keep her work sacred. She does not participate in pop-ups or markets, choosing instead to cultivate a warm, homey space where her clients feel safe, comfortable, and at peace.
BodyWorksbyBachan is proof that when passion meets purpose, success follows—one healing touch at a time.
