Tips from the Top: From Vision to Vows – How Simone Sant-Ghuran Built Trinidad’s Most Trusted Wedding Brand

Simone Sant-Ghuran’s journey from corporate professional to powerhouse entrepreneur is a testament to vision, resilience and heartfelt dedication. She spent over a decade in human resources, marketing and corporate events at major Trinidadian banks, where she honed her skills in communication and event coordination. Though successful, Simone recognized that true fulfillment lay elsewhere, in the intersection of business and creativity. Armed with a degree in business management, diplomas in marketing and journalism and an unwavering creative spark, she made the bold decision in 2004 to leave a stable corporate path and embark on entrepreneurship. At the heart of this leap was her observation that Trinidad and Tobago’s wedding industry lacked a centralized, trusted online platform for brides to discover vendors and inspiration. At that time, the wedding marketplace was fragmented, with limited digital presence and possible potential still to be discovered.

Simone acted quickly. In its earliest form, TrinidadWeddings.com was a modest website with only twelve pages offering internet advertising to local wedding vendors and wedding planning articles. Even in that simplicity, the site was revolutionary because it placed vendors front and centre for couples planning their big day. Simone did not wait for perfection, she launched fast, refined continuously and within a year, her voice was amplified through a weekly bridal column in the Trinidad Guardian. Launched in 2005, the column ran for eleven years and allowed Simone to connect directly with brides across the country through thoughtful wedding planning guidance. At the same time, she introduced online bridal classifieds to help brides sell their gowns after the wedding, merchandise (TW tote bags and bridal emergency kits) hosted elegant tea parties for brides-to-be and produced “The Bride’s Bubble” radio segment. Each initiative represented a new redefinition of what a wedding resource could offer, personalized, accessible and deeply meaningful.

By 2009 Simone launched TW Wed-Zine, Trinidad and Tobago’s first digital wedding magazine. It immediately resonated with readers, filling a void left by existing print and online offerings. The magazine’s rich editorial content, local features and curated inspiration won over brides and vendors alike. When printed versions were released in 2010 and distributed through bookstores and pharmacies nationwide, the publication became even more cherished. The meticulously curated print copy was often read multiple times, passed among family members and kept as a keepsake. This tangible credibility and nostalgic touch solidified Simone’s brand trust in a way that digital alone could not replicate. The TW Wed-Zine also opened the door to working with more corporate brands who were eager to tap into the “engaged couple” market.

Under Simone’s strategic leadership, the TrinidadWeddings.com brand strengthened into a full-fledged ecosystem far beyond editorial content. During 2013-2015, the TW wedding planning app for Android and Apple, was launched to bridge the gap between inspiration and organization. Bridal expos, workshops and tea parties became memorable community events. Wedding vendor training programs, wedding vendor networking mixers and the “TW Luxe” business consultation service, were all launched to empower wedding professionals with marketing know-how and service excellence and to build vendor relationships. Through each of these offerings, the various components of TrinidadWeddings.com didn’t just exist in isolation, they complemented and completed one another; the website attracted users, the magazine inspired them, the app kept them on track, the events fostered community and the training ensured vendor readiness.

Simone’s steadfast dedication to quality and innovation earned her regional and international recognition including from the Lux Life Magazine’s Global Wedding Awards UK in 2024 for Best Wedding Planning Guide and the title of Wedding Expert of the Year in Trinidad and Tobago. She received the AFETT Women of Influence Business Pioneer Award in 2018 and was recognized with the PMI Southern Caribbean Award in 2013 for creative project management. Further honours included the TTCSI Lawrence Placide Go-Global Award in 2019 as well as a finalist in the National Young Women’s Awards in 2005. These accolades attest not only to the success of her business but to the high standards, innovation and influence that are woven into every aspect of her brand.

Authenticity and cultural resonance remain central to Simone’s philosophy. The TW Wed-Zine features real, local brides on its covers and is filled with content that celebrates Caribbean wedding traditions, heritage, art and fashion. Brides see themselves represented in the pages, not just as aspirational images but as reflections of their own identity and culture. The magazine regularly includes the latest global wedding trends and sustainable practices, especially in the 2019 edition when eco-conscious weddings gained prominence. These sustainability features may have once seemed niche but Simone anticipated global trends and positioned her audience to adopt them early and proudly.

The wedding industry itself has been undergoing transformation. Globally, the destination wedding market saw impressive growth, from an estimated $36 billion in 2024 to nearly $48 billion in 2025, driven by couples seeking unique experiences, luxurious locations and personalized celebrations. In parallel, online bridal planning tools have gained traction because they make the wedding process more affordable, organized and emotionally supportive. Brides no longer want to sift through scrapbooks or dozens of websites; they seek centralized resources where they can get checklists, Inspiration galleries, budget calculators, RSVPs, vendor reviews and direct contact in one place. TrinidadWeddings.com has excelled at delivering all of this and more, providing a trusted, elegant and culturally-connected platform.

The COVID-19 pandemic tested the wedding industry like never before, but Simone responded with resilience and agility. With social distancing measures in place and uncertainty ruling the planning process, she pivoted TW’s services to digital delivery. Webinars replaced workshops, and virtual consults for both brides and vendors became the new normal. This forward thinking ensured that the brand remained a lifeline for brides and vendors in uncertain times.

Simone has also prioritized her own growth as deeply as she has the brand’s. She holds diplomas in digital marketing, public relations, fashion journalism and professional wedding planning, along with postgraduate marketing certification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the UK. Simone served as an adjunct lecturer in event management at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business from 2011 to 2019, preparing future wedding and event professionals.

She has also shared her expertise at major industry gatherings such as the Association of Bridal Consultants conference in New York City, the Love & Sunshine destination wedding conference in Guyana, the Jamaica Bridal Expo and at A Bride’s expo in Fort Lauderdale – demonstrating herself not just as a local leader but as an international voice in wedding planning. At these events, she took every opportunity to position Trinidad and Tobago as a destination wedding locale that offers cultural richness and exotic allure to couples seeking romantic experiences abroad.

In June 2023, Simone added another milestone to her story with the release of “It’s Knot Difficult!,” the first wedding planning book authored by a Trinidad and Tobago native to be featured on Amazon. The book combines practical planning advice with personal anecdotes, clear guidance and genuine warmth. It further cements her legacy as an educator and mentor at scale, reaching audiences far beyond her local reach.

Brides trust platforms like TrinidadWeddings.com for many reasons. The platform offers cost-effective, convenient solutions that are easy to access and customize. Packages are affordable, the magazine’s vendor listings are curated and reliable and the digital and print content is polished, emotional and sympathetic to the culture and values of Caribbean weddings. The combined credibility built from nearly two decades of consistent delivery and local insight has made Simone’s brand the default choice for engaged couples. Vendors trust her too because she gives them real exposure, education and an audience they cannot reach elsewhere. There’s no substitute for the brand credibility built when every asset – online, print, and events – is crafted with intention and excellence.

Simone Sant-Ghuran’s journey offers powerful lessons for entrepreneurs everywhere. She taught us to find opportunity in unmet needs and act on them boldly rather than wait for perfection. She showed that building a brand is not just about transactions but about creating an interconnected ecosystem where each component enhances the other. She demonstrated that cultural authenticity resonates in ways that copycat trends cannot and that quality builds trust deeper than shortcuts ever could. She proved that learning is a lifelong commitment that multiplies your value and that pivoting with purpose and consistency is what sustains a brand through economic, cultural or technological change. By teaching, speaking, mentoring and publishing, Simone amplified her impact well beyond weddings, to education and empowerment. Finally, she embodied a community-first approach where everyone, brides, vendors, students, peers, matters.

Today, nearly two decades after its inception, TrinidadWeddings.com is not only the most trusted bridal platform in Trinidad and Tobago, it is a vibrant community, a cultural beacon and a launchpad for businesses and couples alike. Simone Sant-Ghuran didn’t merely create a website. She crafted a legacy rooted in authenticity, excellence, community empowerment and sustainable cultural celebration. She built bridges between tradition and innovation, between local artisans and global trends, between the facile appeal of digital tools and the emotional power of print. Throughout, she channelled her unwavering purpose into a brand that is recognized not just for what it sells, but for what it stands for: inclusive, emotionally resonant Caribbean celebration. Her journey reminds us that building a successful business means becoming the person whose mission deeply resonates. When vision meets effort and integrity meets creativity, what begins as a simple idea can evolve into a movement that transforms industries, cultures and lives.
